Betty R. (Hampton) Ambrose, 89, of Chambersburg, PA and formerly of Mercersburg, PA passed away Thursday, March 21, 2024 in Shippensburg Health Care Center. Born February 9, 1935 in Montgomery Township, PA she was the daughter of the late Chalmer and Olive Edna (Metcalf) Hampton.

Betty was primarily a homemaker but also worked at Stanley Company and Kmart. She and her husband owned and operated Welsh Run Community Store as well as a woodworking business together, making furniture and selling their goods at craft shows. She enjoyed playing bingo, doing dot-to-dot books, and she loved to shop. Betty was kind, funny, caring, and sometimes a little sassy, and so very loved.

She is survived by four children, Pam Kipe (Ed) of Mercersburg, Russell Ambrose, Jr. (Pam) of Smithsburg, MD, Rodney Ambrose (Pamela) of Boiling Springs, PA, and Randy Ambrose (Christine) of Greencastle, PA; son-in-law, Mike Faith a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and sisters-in-laws. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Russell Ambrose, Sr.; daughter, Karen Faith; and four brothers, Cecil, Claire, Carl, and Ronald Hampton.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM, Tuesday, March 26, 2024 in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, 3218 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg, PA 17201 with Pastor Steve Barnett officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM in the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202.
