Sharon Kay Munyer

<p>Sharon Kay (Byre) Munyer, the daughter of Paul J. Byre and Nellie M. (Evans) Byre was born on August 12, 1944, in Rolla, ND. She died at the age of 79 years, on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, while in the care of the Pacifica Care Center Hospice in Coeur d’Alene ID.</p><p><br></p><p>Sharon attended schools in St. John, and Kramer and was a proud graduate of Kramer High School Class of 1962. Sharon then went on to attend the North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton, where she earned her Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) degree, graduating in January 1964. After college, she moved to Rugby where she worked at the Good Samaritan Hospital until Feb. 22, 1968. It was during her time in Rugby that she met and fell in love with Theodore “Ted” Munyer. Sharon and Ted were united in marriage on March 3, 1968, at the St. Paul Episcopal Church in Rugby. They were the last couple to be married at this church. This marriage was the start of an inseparable bond between the two, which lasted a beautiful 37 years. Sharon was introduced to a life on the farm in rural North Dakota which would define the rest of her life. Sharon and Ted’s tenacity and grit would endure the many struggles of farm life.</p><p><br></p><p>Sharon took immense pride in her many years as a farm homemaker and worked actively in the farming operation with Ted and their four sons. She was a very hard-working woman, who dedicated her life to helping Ted on the farm and raising her boys to be the diligent men they are today. She loved her farm animals just like they were family, with each cow or sheep having a name and getting any special attention and care that it needed. The boy’s joke that the animals were sometimes treated better than they were.! Sharon served as a 4-H Leader for many years when her boys were young, helping and guiding them to earn many awards for their livestock and other achievements. Sharon also served as the Fourth District Pierce County Commissioner from 1993-2000. This was a role that she also took much pride in and worked extremely hard at, to be sure that those in her district were taken care of in all their needs.</p><p><br></p><p>Sharon was a fun, boisterous woman. She always loved a fun time, a good prank, and a good joke! If you met her on the street, you would be sure to see a picture of her “Pride and Joy” which she kept in her wallet. Or you would get to see her “stool sample” that she would pull from her fanny pack, and she loved dressing up for Halloween! Those who knew her loved her for her happy-go-lucky and carefree attitude. She was always up for anything and loved meeting new people. There were many times while on a train trip that she would meet someone who would become her life-long friends. A friendship with Sharon was sure to be deep and lasting. Sharon’s other joy were her yearly trips to sunny Arizona in the winters. She had many, many good friends and good times there. She enjoyed having friends and family gather at the Munyer home for her special Syrian meals and playing cards. She loved traveling and staying connected with and visiting her many friends and family. In 2018 the decision was made to move her to be closer to Trent in Coeur d’Alene, ID where she was residing at the time of her passing.</p><p><br></p><p>Sharon is survived by: 3 Sons: Todd (Sandi) Munyer, Rugby; Troy (Candy) Munyer, Rugby; Trent (Kristina) Munyer, Coeur d’Alene, ID., 11 Grandchildren: Leigha (Kyler) Just, Burlington; Alex Munyer, Rugby; MacKayla (Rodney) Burger, Maxbass; Cody (Kayla) Goetz Minot, Tanner (Kelsey) Goetz, Hazen, ND; Jason (DelRay) Goetz, Minot; Ashlynn (Colton) Starr, Des Moines, IA; Jaden Munyer (Madison Myhre), Dickinson; Mariah Munyer (Nick Wolf), Bismarck; Ava and Zara Munyer, both of Coeur d’Alene, ID and 18 great-grandchildren; 1 Sister: Gail Braaten, Minot, ND and 1 Sister-In-Law: Phyllis Byre, Spokane, WA.; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Sharon is preceded in death by husband, Theodore Munyer (June 22, 2005) and 1 Son, Theodore “Deuce” Munyer II (June 29, 2023), her parents, and family members – Paul Byre, Marvin (Carol Raymond) Byre, Mavis Byre, Beverly (Lester) Brandt; Louise (Dave) Osterman, Donna Coffin; Brother-in-law, Keith Braaten and Nephew Preston “PJ” Osterman.</p><p><br></p><p>Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 3, 2024, from 5 pm to 7 pm with a time of sharing at 7 pm at the Anderson Funeral Home in Rugby.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p>Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 4, 2024, at First Lutheran Church in Rugby with burial in the Greek Orthodox Cemetery, Rugby.&nbsp;</p><p><br></p><p>Casket Bearers:&nbsp;Jaden Munyer, Cody Goetz, Tanner Goetz, Jason Goetz, Cory Atkinson and Tom Harmel</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p>&nbsp;</p>
