Mr. Bernard Eugene Bandy, Jr., age 74, of Lebanon, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 20, 2024. He passed away peacefully with his wife and family by his side at Mountain View Retirement Home after a lengthy illness. Born July 9, 1949 in Tazewell County, Virginia, he was a son of the late Bernard Eugene Bandy, Sr. and Pauline Lambert Bandy. He was a longtime resident of Bandy and Amonate, Virginia before his latest residence of Lebanon, Virginia. He was a 1968 graduate of Tazewell High School and attended Southwest Virginia Community College. He was a retired coal miner from Consolidated Coal Company with thirty years of service and worked many years at Bishop #37. He was an avid outdoorsman, who loved to hunt, fish, ride horses, ride four-wheelers, camping, and gardening. He was a seasoned gun enthusiast all of his years. He also loved playing horseshoes and won the Virginia State Horseshoe Tournament in August of 1987. Eugene loved to bowl and bowled in many matches at Fireside Lanes in Claypool Hill. He was president of Bandy Sportsman’s Club in Bandy and always had a good story to tell and a fun sense of humor. Most of all, he treasured his family and friends, who will dearly miss him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Vanessa Bandy Hicks, and one brother, Russell D. Bandy.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Bostic Bandy; sons, Gene Bandy and Justin Bandy and Faith; step-sons, Kevin Bostic and Amanda, and Jonathan Bostic and Elle; step-daughter, Jennifer Cumbow and Dennis; three sisters, Teresa Lou Brown and Randal, Rita Childress and Clyde, and Anita Chocklett and Rob; grandchildren, Jaxson Bandy, Caiden Bandy, Kaitlen Hubbard, Chandler Hubbard, Paige Bostic, Emma Bostic, and Nora Bostic; special niece, Stephanie Varney (Curtis and Chloe) as well as many special nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family would like to thank his special caregivers at Mountain View Retirement Home for the wonderful care he received from everyone there as well as Helping Hands Hospice.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Wayne Harrison and Rev. Eric Harrison. Interment will follow in the Bandy Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 12- 2 PM Sunday at the Honaker Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Dennis Cumbow, Chandler Hubbard, Doug Hubbard, Rob Chocklett, Austin Chocklett, and Clyde Childress.

Honorary pallbearers will be Randall Brown, Johnny Sparks, Moody Altizer, Butch Altizer, Steve Altizer, Lee Christian. Gene Mitchum, and Tommy Bandy.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Valley View Freewill Baptist

Church.
