Earl John Schick Obituary

Earl John Schick, a longtime resident of Fraser, died peacefully in his home surrounded by the love of his family on March 19, 2024. He was 92 years of age.

Earl was born on October 20, 1931, in Detroit, Michigan, the son of the late Leonard and Florence (Kohlar) Schick. He served our country honorably in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Earl met his beloved wife Donna Marie Hritz bowling, soon after engaged and married on July 20, 1957, at St. Nicholas Greek Catholic Church of Detroit. The couple made their home in Fraser and were blessed with six wonderful children whom they loved and cherished. Earl established a career as a master Electrician and proud member of the IBEW Local 58 for over 40 years.

Earl and his sons enjoyed building free-flight model airplanes, traveled for competitions, and won numerous awards. For many years he was a gifted woodworker who created beautiful furniture, birdhouses, and various crafted projects. Earl was one of the first volunteers to help build Fort Fraser at Stephens Park. To pass the time Earl enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and his daily word search.

Above all, Earl was a family man who was dedicated to providing for his family. He was a gentle and honest man who lived life with integrity, compassion, and love. Earl will be deeply missed, and his light will continue to glow in our hearts forever.

Earl is the loving husband of 66 years to Donna; dearest father of Patricia (Nicholas) Amicone, Carolyn (Stevan) Kosticak, David (Brenda) Schick, William (Julie Bond) Schick, James (Rose) Schick, and the late Robert Schick; cherished grandfather of Matthew, Michael, Brandon (Fiancée Kaitlin), Brianna, Jacob, Veronica and Dylan; dear brother of Lee (Nancy) Schick and the late Jim (Gene), Gerald (Sue), Marilyn (Lenny) and Evelyn; and beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews.
