Martin Luther Knox Obituary

Martin Luther Knox, Jr., son of the late Martin Luther Knox, Sr. and Alice Elizabeth Knox, was born on August 16, 1941 in Horntown, Virginia. He departed this life on March 19, 2024 in Horntown, Virginia at his sister and brother-in-law’s residence.

Martin, known to many as "Baby, Jr.," received his education in the Accomack County Public Schools system. He was gainfully employed at Holly Farms, now Tyson Foods, for over forty years until the time of his retirement.

Martin accepted Christ in his life at an early age at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Horntown, Virginia. After marriage and relocating to Craddockville, Virginia, he united with Christ at Holy Trinity Baptist Church. There he served as a faithful member, chairman of the Deacon Board, Male Choir, and a devoted Sunday School Teacher. He loved singing and found great joy in singing, This Morning When I Rose.

Martin was joined in holy matrimony to the late Doris Evolia Sample Knox and they shared over forty-five years of love and happiness.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Audrey Gibson and Mildred Watkins; four brothers, James, Wallis, Curtis, and Ronnie Douglas.

Left to cherish his precious memories are three sisters, Grace Holland, Elizabeth Jones (Theodore), and Shyanne Knox; two brothers, Ernest Douglas (Nannie Lou) and Lawrence Douglas ( Doris); two stepsons, George Sample (Betty) and Harvey Bull (Tiara); four aunts, Emma Howard, Addie Dale, Virginia Davis, and Elsie Robinson; sister-in-law, Minnie White (Michael); brothers-in-law, Cecil Turner (Arneator), Sammy Davis (Karen), Joseph Davis, and Noah Henry Davis (Addie); special friend, Wilfred Gray; Gregory Lewis, who he loved as a son; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Sorrowfully submitted,

The Family
