Roy B. Crider, age 77 of Chatham, VA passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at his residence. He was born October 2, 1946 in Pittsylvania County, VA to the late Walter Bernard “Bunny” Crider and the late Minnie Brooks Crider.

He lived his entire life in Chatham, VA. He graduated from Chatham High School and married his high school sweetheart, Christine Bowen Crider of the residence. Roy retired from Goodyear after 35 years of dedicated service. He was also a lifetime farmer, and for many years did loader work for people. Roy was well known and well liked in his community, and respected in everything he did.

Roy and Christine had four children, all of them survive. He had one daughter, Lynne Crider Maddox (Darryl), and three sons, Bennett Crider (Tammy), Keith Crider (Chastity), and Jeff Crider (Rhonda), all of Chatham, VA. Roy is also survived by eight grandchildren, Christina Parrish (Bryan), Joshua Shelton (Melissa), Michaela Geyer (Addison), Zachary Shelton (Lauren), Justin Crider (Jordan), Chase Crider (Ashley), Brent Crider (Heather), and Sage Crider. Four bonus grandchildren, Brooke Ross (Tyler), Brittney Marlowe (Cody), Eddieboy Collins (Angela), and Darryl Maddox, Jr. Seven great grandchildren, Aislyn, Jackson, Kambrie, Kaisleigh, Brewer, Everleigh, Liam, and Selah. Nine bonus great grandchildren, Chris, Lucas, Matthew, Presleigh, Kamdyn, Hazeley, Dakota, Zoey, and Landon.

Roy is also survived by his Siblings, Bonnie C. Guill (Benny), Ryland Crider, Linda C. Barber (Elwood) of Chatham, VA, and Dan Crider of Scottsdale, AZ, and a sister-in-law, Barbara Crider of Danville, VA.

In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by one brother, Wayne Crider, and one sister-in-law, Carroll Crider.

Roy was a member of Sheva Church of Christ.

A visitation will be held at Sheva Church of Christ on Sunday, March 24, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Monday, March 25, 2024, 3:00 p.m. also at Sheva Church of Christ with Minister Ron Voss and Minister Larry Owen officiating. At other times the family will receive visitors at the home of his daughter, Lynne Maddox, 1713 Transco Rd., Chatham, VA.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made to the Sheva Church of Christ building fund.
