Donald A. Sandrelli Obituary

Sandrelli, Donald A Sr. of Leominster, formerly of Arlington. Born May 19, 1935 in the North-End of Boston where he attended Christopher Columbus High School. He later attended Northeastern University and graduated with a master’s degree in education. Donald moved to Arlington in 1961 with his family where he lived for 63 years. In 1974 he began his teaching career at Arlington High School where he retired in 1999. His students still remember him with fondness and admiration. Many of his former students continued to stay in touch with him years after graduating. While in retirement, he filled his time with reading, writing and painting.

He continued to take educational courses to feed his brain with new information and playing his beloved Martin guitar especially brought him great joy. Oftentimes, along with his prized songbook he was the entertainment at get-togethers and gatherings where sing-a-longs were always a hit. Summers were spent in Onset Beach with his beloved wife Palma, his large and growing family and their friends, all the while continuing to make friends wherever he went. His ability to strike up a conversation with strangers was a tribute to his gift of gab and what made him a beloved teacher.

Donald was the husband of the late Palma M. Sandrelli (Luongo). Devoted father to the late Donald A Sandrelli Jr, Joan Marie Trainque, her partner Steven Aspland of E. Templeton, Marisa Fleming, her husband Tom, David Sandrelli, his wife Lisa, Stephen Sandrelli, Mark Sandrelli, his wife Elizabeth all of Fitchburg and former father in law of David Trainque and Senovia Boliva.

Loving Grandfather to Curtis, Jessica, Dawn, Brianna, Catey, Amy, Stephanie, Christopher, Michael, Erica, Zachary, Marisa, Vitoria, and Stephania. Great Grandfather to Collins, Madeline, Alivia, Liam, Lincoln, Jameson, Jack, Christian, Colton and James. He was the son of Dominic and Hermine (Sylvestri) Sandrelli, brother of Joan Marie Freni who predeceased him and brother-in-law to Charles Freni of Bedford MA.
