<p>Norway - It is with great sadness that the family of Michael Edmunds O’Connor, age 64, of Harrison, Maine shares news of his unexpected passing from natural causes on March 19, 2024. He was born in Lewiston, Maine on October 10, 1959, son of Judith Edmunds O’Connor and the late Robert O’Connor of Oxford, Maine.</p><p><br></p><p>Mike grew up in South Paris and enjoyed playing with neighborhood friends, camping with his family, and spending fun-filled summers on Keoka Lake. He also participated in Little League Baseball and The Boy Scouts of America. He graduated from Oxford Hills High School in 1978, where he excelled in football, baseball, and basketball throughout his time there, and received several athletic awards. Following high school, Mike attended the University of Maine at Presque Isle and Southern Maine Vocational Technical Institute where he received a Maritime Associate Degree. After college he began full-time employment at Paris Farmers Union where he remained throughout his career and advanced to his most recent position as warehouse manager.</p><p><br></p><p>On June 27, 1987, Mike married Shari Kathleen Smith, the love of his life. His greatest joy was raising their two children Cody and Brynn, coaching their youth baseball and soccer teams, and skiing with the family throughout Maine and New Hampshire, Sunday River being his favorite. They also enjoyed many happy family vacations over the years. Mike loved watching Cody play the drums and attending Brynn’s dance and gymnastics competitions. He was a huge fan of the New England Patriots and the Boston Celtics. He loved landscape gardening in his backyard, and transforming it was a great source of pride. In recent years he and Shari purchased a camper and enjoyed seasonal stays at Vacationland Campground on Crystal Lake in Harrison, Maine where they made wonderful memories with new and old friends. Mike was thrilled to eventually become a grandfather and shared many precious times with his grandchildren.</p><p><br></p><p>In addition to his wife Shari, Mike is survived by his son Cody O’Connor, his partner Jessica, and grandchildren Liam and Soren of Washington, New Hampshire, and daughter Brynn Elizabeth O’Connor, husband Dennis Mailman, and daughters Emilia and Addy of Harrison, Maine. He also leaves his mother Judy O’Connor of Oxford, Maine; sisters Kathy Chalas (Mark) of Plymouth, Massachusetts, Nancy Ames (Tim) of Canaan, Maine, and Kimberly Amalfitano (Neil) of Oakland, Maine; sisters-in-law Dodie Hoyt (Jeffry) of Norway, Maine, and Darlene Sessions-Barbour (Brian) of Norway, Maine; and brother-in-law Bill Smith (Deb) of Oxford, Maine, as well as many nieces and nephews.</p><p><br></p><p>Mike was predeceased by his father Robert O’Connor, brother Kevin O’Connor, mother-in-law Beverly Smith, father-in-law William Smith, paternal grandparents Leicester and Mildred O’Connor, and maternal grandparents Elmore and Muriel Edmunds.</p><p><br></p><p>It was Mike’s wish not to have a funeral or memorial service. Please remember the generous, thoughtful, and loving man that he was, and celebrate his life by showing kindness to others.
