Anne Louise Lipes Obituary

Mrs. Anne Louise Glover Lipes, age 82, of Covington, died Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at LewisGale Hospital-Alleghany, Low Moor. She was the wife of the late Marvin Leslie Lipes.

Mrs. Lipes was born October 14, 1941 in Virginia, the daughter of the late Elzie Dayton and Frances Glover . She was a choir director at Central United Methodist Church in Clifton Forge and was also employed by Dominion Bank for a number of years. While living in the Roanoke area, she loved to cook and prepare meals for the Good Samaritan Hospice.

A truly wonderful and inspired cook and caterer, Louise owned and operated the former Hostess Catering Business here in Covington. She was well- known throughout this community and everyone had the good fortune to eat her delicious cooking. Louise was known for her incredible baking, especially her delicious carrot and coconut cakes, plus making sure that everyone left with a piece of cake or a treat. Louise had a strong desire to serve her community by preparing meals for the local hospice families as well as being a member of both the Botetourt and Alleghany Highlands Kiwanis Clubs.

Mrs. Lipes loved music, especially opera, and truly enjoyed listening to her favorite classical artist, Andrea Bocelli. She was a longtime member of Granbery Memorial United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir as well as cooking for church functions. Mrs. Lipes was an avid University of Virginia fan who enjoyed watching the Cavaliers play. Most of all, Louise loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren, Dylan, Katelyn, Rachel and Hannah whom were the light of her life and she cherished the time that she spent with them. Louise also cherished the time spent and memories made at the Glover Family reunions.

Mrs. Lipes is survived by two sons, Marvin Kirk Lipes and wife, Tina of Roanoke and Michael Leslie Lipes and girlfriend, Danielle Reynolds of Covington; her grandchildren, Dylan Carson, Katelyn Lipes Winand and husband, Dustin, Rachel Carson and fiancé, Daniel Blevins, Hannah Lipes; a son-in-law, Russell Carson; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Lipes was preceded in death by her daughter, Christine Anne Lipes Carson and her siblings, Tom Glover, Ron Glover, Don Glover and David Ray Glover.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Granbery Memorial United Methodist Church with Donnie Woodward officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon from noon until time of service at Granbery Memorial United Methodist Church and at other times the family will gather at her residence.
