TIHALAS, George, passed away on March 19, 2024, at his home in South Easton, MA, four days before his 68th birthday.

George spent his childhood in Nea Pella, Greece, and emigrated to the Boston area immediately after high school. He obtained a bachelor’s degree in biology from Northeastern University, while also playing in a "football" - not "soccer" - league. He later earned both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in polymer engineering from UMass Lowell. George spent his professional career as a plastics engineer, production manager and Six Sigma expert, first at Polaroid and later at Avery-Dennison and Weidmann Electric.

George is survived by his wife, Donna Ferretti Tihalas, his son and daughter-in-law, Nicholas and Jennifer Tihalas of Dorchester, MA, and his daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Michael Hutchins of Woburn, MA. Memories of "Papou" will be cherished by four granddaughters, Adrianna and Sophia Hutchins, Madison Tihalas. and Maddie's soon-to-join-us sister, who will enjoy Papou through the stories her cousins and big sister tell.

George is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Stelios and Ionna Tihalas of Billerica, MA, and by their sons, Nick and Chris, as well as by many aunts, uncles and cousins, here and in Greece. George frequently returned to his beloved Greece and especially enjoyed his times with family in Nea Pella and time enjoying the beautiful Aegean Sea at his second home in Vourvourou.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, March 26th, at Saint Athanasius the Great Greek Orthodox Church, 4 Appleton St, Arlington, MA. A Visitation prior to the funeral will begin at 10 AM, with the formal Funeral Service to begin at 11 AM. Burial at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, 70 Medford Street, Arlington, MA, will follow the service. After the burial, all are welcome to join the family at Cafe Escadrille, 26 Cambridge Street, Burlington, MA, for a late lunch and celebration of George's life.
