Obituary

Lewis “John” Brook, Jr. went home to be with the Lord on his 85th birthday March 19, 2024. His faith in God and his love and faithfulness to his family will leave a multi-generational legacy to all who knew him.

John was a man of faith, firmly cemented in his relationship with Jesus Christ, the relationship that provides so much peace and comfort to his family who will continue on without him.

Born in Warren, Ohio, as the firstborn of 3 children, John grew up on a farm in a family that valued faith and hard work. He studied at Ohio State University and Temple Baptist College, and faithfully worked in a career in materiel management at Good Samaritan Hospital Cincinnati to support his family.

John was a devoted husband to his wife Joyce for 49 years, and together they raised two sons, Daniel and Douglas, and loved their daughters-in-law Melissa and Sharon as their own. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were blessed by the constant caring and active role John took in their lives.

After the passing of both of their first spouses, John found love and companionship in his beloved wife, Jan, and they enjoyed over 7 years together. His love and legacy expanded as he was welcomed and loved by new children: Bryan & Amy, Brent & Thuy, Melanie & Brad, Kelvey and many grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Barbara. His brother Elton remains with us.

John will be remembered for his love of God, family, reading, and Graeter’s ice cream. His legacy of unwavering faith and selfless love has left an indelible mark on the lives of his family, friends, and church family. He will be dearly missed, but we find solace in knowing he is celebrating with his Savior.
