Eleanor Jean Thompson, 92, of Scottsbluff, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 16, 2024. Her funeral service will be held at New Beginnings Church of the Nazarene on Monday, March 25, 2024, at 2pm, with Pastor Cliff Transmeier officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Scottsbluff. Viewing will be held one hour prior to service time at the church. It is respectfully requested that in lieu of any flowers, memorials in Jean’s honor be made in care of the church. Jean was born on April 13, 1931, to Alvin and Alice Prouty. She was the 2nd of 7 siblings. She married Clarence Thompson on April 8, 1952. They had 3 children: Bernice, Wendell and Byron. In 1961, they started Thompson Appliance where Jean worked in the office. Clarence repaired appliances in the basement while Jean operated the office from the living room until they built a new building in 1972. She was very active in the Nazarene Church as a Sunday school teacher, missions president, youth president, board member, and assisted with building the new church building. Jean was involved in running the business, raising her family, and telling stories about the “49” blizzard.

She is survived by Bernice, Wendell (Jaleen), and Byron, brother Stanley; grandkids Tom (Amanda), Steve, Doug (Aleah), Kenny (Abigail); and great grandkids Sophia, Grayson, Sylas, Amelia, Myer, Gunnar, and Naomi; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, husband Clarence, brothers Donald, Lyle, Les and Walt, and sister Norma.
