Constance Evelyn Orchard Obituary

Constance Evelyn Orchard, 81, most recently of Sellersville, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 18th, 2024. Born in Forty Fort, PA, she was the elder daughter of the late Conrad and Elsa (Owen) Orchard and grew up in Trucksville, PA. Constance was an accomplished pianist and musician in her high school years, participating in the music department at Westmoreland High School. Upon graduation, she attended Lebanon Valley College and Bloomsburg University, studying elementary and special education. After college, Constance moved to Maryland, where she taught third and fourth grade in the Prince George’s County Public Schools for over 25 years. After retiring from teaching, she returned to Trucksville to care for her parents. She spent the next 20 years participating in her high school alumni group, planning class reunions, caring for the beautiful old house she purchased “just up the road” from her childhood home, and enjoying new loves like art appreciation and Bonsai trees.

She is survived by her sister Elsa and her husband John R. Finn of East Greenville, PA; her niece Patricia Conrad and her partner Jay Poko, also of East Greenville; her nephew Jeffrey Finn and his wife Katherine of Houston, TX; her great-nephews Johnny Finn, Alex Conrad, Evan Conrad and his partner Grace Cooley, and Paul Conrad and his wife Alyssa.

Constance, known by her family fondly as Auntie, was a welcome addition at family gatherings, holidays and summer vacations, spending time with her nephews on the beach or at the lake (her preferred location), prepping dinner at the vacation house while her family lounged in the sun, and beating everyone at Monopoly or poker to round out the evening. She maintained a love of music throughout her life, enjoyed gardening and traveling with friends, and spent many hours caring for her Bonsai in her later years. She will be sorely missed and remembered as a strong, independent, opinionated, extremely loving and supportive aunt and sister.

Services will be held privately.

Donations can be made in her memory to Heifer Project International, 1 World Avenue, Little Rock, AR 72202.
