<p>Rose Macalle (Castner), 87 of Toms River, and formerly of Prospect Park, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, St. Joseph’s Day and joined her beloved husband Joe.</p><p><br></p><p>Rose was born in Pittstown, PA to Charles and Regina (Lauren) Castner. She moved to Paterson, NJ where she met and married the love of her life Joseph Macalle. They started their family there and would move to Prospect Park, NJ, where Rose spent many years lovingly raising her children, before moving to Toms River, NJ 24 years ago. Rose’s life was a testament to love, dedication, and family. </p><p><br></p><p>She found fulfillment in her career as a certified nursing assistant, initially working at the Christian Health Care Center in Wyckoff and later at Complete Care in Holiday City, where she retired at the age of 79. This was a chapter of her life that she cherished deeply.</p><p><br></p><p>She was a former parishioner of St. Paul’s RC Church in Prospect Park before moving to Toms River, where she became a parishioner of Saint Maximillian Kolbe Church. </p><p><br></p><p>Rose is predeceased by her devoted husband, Joseph, her son Joseph and his wife Mary, her siblings Thomas, William, Robert, Larry, Donald, John, Jean Ann, Mary and Dolores.</p><p><br></p><p>She is survived by her loving children, Donna Macalle-Holly and her husband Bruce, Stephanie Macalle and her wife Kim Tanis, Charlene Wyckoff and her husband Ronald, Michael Macalle and his wife Heidi, and Helene Atkinson and her husband Bryan. Cherished Grandmother (GMA) to Allie, Joey, Nick, Meghan, Dana, Brad, Beau, Brett, Jamie, Jason, and Kelly; and her great-grandchildren, Wesley and Ardjoena. Also, surviving is her sister Dorothy, brother Ronald and his wife Edie, and many loving nieces and nephews.</p><p><br></p><p>In her spare time, Rose loved to bowl, read, color, take trips to Atlantic City and enjoy a glass of wine at the Miracle Bar in her hometown. She particularly loved the annual family vacations as her family meant the world to her.</p><p><br></p><p>Family and friends may visit the Macalle family on Friday, March 22, 2024, from 9-11AM at the Vander Plaat-Vermeulen Memorial Home, 530 High Mountain Road, Franklin Lakes, NJ. A Funeral mass to celebrate Rose’s life will be held immediately following visitation at 11:30 AM at St. Paul’s RC Church, 286 Haledon Avenue, Prospect Park. Interment to follow at Laurel Grove Memorial Park.</p><p><br></p><p>In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Rose’s memory to the charity of your choice.</p>

Rose Macalle (Castner), 87 of Toms River, and formerly of Prospect Park, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, St. Joseph’s Day and joined her beloved husband Joe.


Rose was born in Pittstown, PA to Charles and Regina (Lauren) Castner. She moved to Paterson, NJ where she met and married the love of her life Joseph Macalle.
