W.E. Carver Obituary

Waymon Elmore (W.E) Carver of Hernando, MS passed away in his home on March 18, 2024 surrounded by family. He was born June 7, 1934 in Webster County, MS.


W.E. graduated from Drew High School and attended Delta State University where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Business. Later he worked as District Claims Manager for Nationwide Insurance and retired after 32 years.


A deeply faithful man, W.E. was a member of Whitehaven Baptist Church where he sang in the choir for over 60 years. He lived a kind and gentle life pursuing his passions of travel, golf, and music.


A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, W.E. is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary Mildred (Cooper) Carver; his son Tom (Sharon) Carver and his three children Martin (Marissa) Carver, Catherine (Kevin) Maloney, and Sallie Rose Carver; his son Chris (Tracie) Carver and their sons Sam and Jack Carver; and his daughter Carol (Tony) Hooker and their three children Joe (Becca) Hooker, Mary Caroline (Preston) Jones, and Tori Hooker. He is also survived by 6 great-grandchildren: Naomi, Joe, Michaela, KJ, Thomas, and Charlie.


A visitation will take place Friday, March 22, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., with a service immediately following at 11:00 a.m. All services will be held in the Hernando Funeral Home chapel.
