Viola Caroline “Sue” Hopkins 88 of Bloomington passed away at Stonecroft Health Care on Monday, March 18, 2024, with her loving family at her side.

Viola was born February 6, 1936 in Bloomington, IN, and was the daughter of Clifton and Loretta

(Wood) Burks. Viola attended Bloomington High School and worked at Kresges, Sugar Shack and Sarkes

Tarzian.

Viola married her best friend Willious C Hopkins on February 6, 1953. They had 3 children Peggy (David)

Crites of Solsberry, Steven (Marilyn) Hopkins of Bloomington and Rebecca (Pete) Mobley of Spencer.

Also surviving are 19 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister, Mary Joan Bradley and one brother, Ervin “Buck” Burks.

Viola loved traveling to Smokey Mountains and Myrtle beach in their dune buggies with their friends,

this was a yearly event. She enjoyed Sunday dinners and gatherings with family, and loved the time with

all the kids, grandkids and great grandkids as there was always a crowd of family at these gatherings.

She loved just being on the go. She enjoyed fishing and mushroom hunting in her younger days, many

weekends were spent at Linton, she also enjoyed Saturday mornings, every Saturday she went to Cracker Barrel for breakfast with family.

Visitation will be Friday, March 22, 2024 at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third Street, Bloomington, Indiana from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. at The Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens

The family wants Stonecroft Health Care and Southern Care Hospice know how much they appreciated their care for their mother.
