Michael Handziak, age 68, of Beal City passed away Saturday, March 16th, 2024 with his family by his side.

Michael was born on August 10, 1955, in Sault Ste. Marie, the son of Alex and Audrey (McCarthy) Handziak. He attended Sault High where he played hockey for the Blue Devils during his time there and attended Lake Superior State University where he was a member of the SME Fraternity. He worked for the State of Michigan in the Department of Technology Management and Budget for 30 years.

He enjoyed fishing with friends, playing cribbage with his friend, Jim, camping with his family, watching westerns, and socializing with his wife and friends at the Blue Bar. Michael was a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 3676 and a longtime member of the Moose. Most of all, he loved his family and was very proud of his children and their accomplishments.

Michael is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann of 40 years; son, Joseph (Chantel Stephen) Handziak, daughter Juliann Handziak; sister, Cynthia Handziak; brothers-in-law, Gene (Arlene) LaDoux and Michael LaDoux; sister-in-law, Suzy (Brian) Peterman; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents; and mother-in-law Zona LaDoux.

Funeral Services for Michael will be held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Friday March 22, 2024, at 11 a.m. with Benjamen Evers officiating. A luncheon will immediately follow in the Reflections Reception Center. Interment will take place at Two Rivers Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday March 21 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Visitation will continue the day of the service from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel. A celebration of life will be held in Sault Ste. Marie this summer.
