Addie Mae Gray

Born: September 2, 1937 Died: March 7, 2024

Addie was born to Addie Cleo Ketchum and Burl Hugh Wisdom in Hobart, Oklahoma. Addie lived part of her early life in Eureka, California, while her father was in the US Army. Addie returned to Oklahoma, where she completed her education. She grew up surrounded by a large and loving extended family.

Addie married Frank Ford of Roosevelt on June 21, 1955. They had three children – Athena, Robert, and Raquel. She subsequently married Freddie Gray of Hobart.

Addie was a good and loving mother. She also thought of herself in this way, so much that she proudly had this engraved on her headstone, along with the names of her three children. We only wished we had been warned before being taken to see her headstone so neatly in place years ahead of time.

Addie was a great caregiver. She took care of her brother John during his terminal illness. She cared for her mother until the good Lord called Granny Cleo home. Addie cared for Mrs. Gentry, of Hobart, whom she adored. Addie worked in many areas at the Hobart Good Samaritan Home. Her favorite role there was as the activities director.

Addie liked to travel and had many opportunities to do so. She was able to visit her brother Robert Burl (Bob) Wisdom when he was in England. She visited her granddaughter Erin Silberlicht while she and her family were living in Munich, Germany. Mother had always wanted to visit Venice, Italy, and was able to do so during that trip. She and Raquel made road trips to visit her brother Bob while he and Jo Ann were living in South Carolina. Mother even ventured on a cruise with Athena's family and learned quickly that she could have breakfast served every morning on her veranda.

Addie is survived by her daughters Athena Friese (Paul) and Raquel Walker. She is survived by her grandchildren Erin Silberlicht (Jon), Jack Friese (Lucy), and Eric Walker. She is survived by five great grandchildren, Zachary & Caden Silberlicht and Kaisyn, Kessy, & Walker McDaugale along with their father Daron McDaugale. She is survived by nieces Jolene Norris, Debbie Gresham, and nephew Ricky Wisdom.

Addie is preceded in death by her parents, by her brothers Robert Burl Wisdom & Johnny Lee Wisdom, her son Robert Franklin Ford, her granddaughter Kaitlyn Walker McDaugale, her son-in-law Shawn Walker, and her sister-in-law Jo Ann Wisdom.

We love you, Mother.
