<p>Services for Carol Woolverton, 82, of Malakoff are scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at First Baptist Malakoff with Brother Casey Perry officiating. Interment will follow at Malakoff City Cemetery under the direction of Hannigan Smith Funeral Home.</p><p><br></p><p>Mrs. Woolverton passed away peacefully on March 17, 2024, in Palestine. </p><p><br></p><p>Edna Carolyn Woolverton was born April 10, 1941, in Palestine to Henry Warren and Mae (Mallard) Warren. She grew up in the Long Lake Community and attended Woodhouse schools. In 1961 she married Ben Woolverton and lived in Germany while he finished his Military service. In 1964 they moved to Malakoff, and she attended East Texas State University receiving a Master’s of Education. Carol would then spend her entire teaching career in the Cross Roads ISD for over 30 years before her retirement. In her free time she enjoyed gardening, working in the yard and antiquing, but her true joy was found volunteering in the children’s ministry and singing in the choir at First Baptist Church of Malakoff where she had been a member since 1964. Carol was a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother who will be dearly missed. </p><p><br></p><p>She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Wade Warren.</p><p><br></p><p>She is survived by her husband Ben Woolverton Sr. of Malakoff; children, Lisa McDonald and husband Keith of Tennessee Colony, Gary Woolverton and wife Sonja of Malakoff; grandchildren, Bradley McDonald and wife Tina, Clay McDonald, Paige Sanford and husband Hunter, Sadie Rehmann and husband Adam, Jacob Woolverton; great-grandchildren, Finley McDonald, Randy Rehmann, Sean Rehmann and siblings, Nelda Butler of Palestine and Linda Mills of Frankston.</p><p><br></p><p>A visitation will be held from 6-7:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home.</p><p><br></p><p>James Butler, Bradley McDonald, Clay McDonald, Jacob Woolverton, Hunter Sanford, Adam Rehmann will serve as pallbearers.</p><p><br></p><p>In lieu of flowers the family would like donations made in her memory to the First Baptist Church Building Fund.</p><p><br></p><p>Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home family.</p>
