James Robert Aguilar Obituary

James Aguilar 68, China Grove, TX native, passed away in Waco on March 17, 2024.


James was born Feb 14, 1956 in Floresville, TX but resided in China Grove, TX where he attended and graduated from East Central High School. He moved to Waco shortly after graduation where he met and married Nelda Ortiz. They were married 44 years and had one son, James Robert Aguilar Jr.


While in Waco he worked for LL Sams and Sons. Later he would join the city of Waco Solid Waste Department where he worked and retired after 24 years. During that time he was awarded the Recycling Driver of the Year award for his efforts, workmanship and pride for his job surpassing all expectations.


James was a loving man to all- family and friends. He enjoyed fishing, playing men’s softball, DJing and listening to music.He was preceded in death by his parents Roberto and Isabela Aguilar; sisters Angie Aguilar and Linda Aguilar Dickerson and brothers- Eddie Aguilar and Ernest Aguilar.


Survivors include his beloved wife Nelda Ortiz Aguilar, son James Robert Aguilar Jr. and wife Miriam Aguilar, grandson Noah James Aguilar, granddaughters Lashawndra and Myra Kuykendall, great grandkids Phoenix and Phelix Minnitt. Twin sister Barbara and husband David Cortez, brothers Henry and Sonia Aguilar, Danny and Amanda Aguilar and nieces and nephews.


James (Pops) Aguilar will be greatly missed and never forgotten
