Services for John Young, 55, of Athens, Texas, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 21, 2024, at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home of Athens with Pastors Eddie Lee and Leon Batchelor officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Young went to be with his Savior Jesus Christ on March 17, 2024, surrounded by his loving family in Tyler.

John Young was born September 22, 1968, in Texarkana, Texas the son of Jerry Young and Myrtle Ann (Jeffery) Young. He was the owner/operator of Young’s Septic Service and proudly served the area for many years. He enjoyed fishing, working and hanging out with his dog Snickers. His greatest joys in life were his family, especially his grandchildren and his Church, Calvary Community Church in Ben Wheeler.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Joseph Young.

He is survived by his loving wife Michelle Young of Athens; his children, Tabitha Boswell and husband Tommy and John Young Jr. and wife Kayla both of Texarkana, Arkansas, Andy Bourland and wife Scarlett of Athens, Natalie Hurley and husband Brody; two grandchildren, Honey Boswell, Roman Boswell; brother Joshua Young and wife Brandi of Texarkana, Arkansas and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

A visitation will be held from 6-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home of Athens.

Terry Lee, Randy Davis, Andy Bourland, Brody Hurley, Michael Lee, Michael Lee Jr. and Benny Choate will serve as pallbearers.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home family.
