HAYSI-Helen Deloris Lester, age 78 of Greenbrier Road passed away, Sunday, March 17, 2024 at Pikeville Medical Center. Born in Buchanan County she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Susie Justice Shortridge. She was a homemaker and was a member of Haysi Church of Christ.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Lester, a son, Bobby Gene Justice, five brothers, Henry Shortridge, Wayne Shortridge, Carson Dean Shortridge, Billy Ray Shortridge and Clarence (Catfish) Shortridge, Jr and one sister Margaret Shortridge.

Survivors include her daughter Tina Michele (Payne) Hardin, son-in-law James Hardin, one grandson Michael Hardin, brother, Dale Robert Shortridge and her caregivers Mark and Christina Deel, Haysi, Virginia whom she thought of as her family.

Funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Wednesday March 20, 2024 at Haysi Funeral Home with Haysi Church of Christ officiating. Burial will follow in the Shortridge Cemetery, Cripple Creek Road, Vansant, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Lukas Deel, Connor Deel, Mark Deel, Elmer Yates, Billy Joe Yates, Billy T. Yates, Cody Yates and Billy Ralph Deel.

The family will receive friends after 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at the funeral home where a song service will be held at 7:00 p.m.
