<p>Memorial service for Dwight “Dit” C. Addy, 78, will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 21, 2024 at Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Historic B-L Chapel with his nephew, Rev. Chris Addy officiating.&nbsp; The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to SCOA Cares, 166 Stoneridge Dr. Columbia, SC 29210.&nbsp; </p><p>Born in Lexington County, he was a son of the late Wright Evans “Pete” and Nannie Lou Taylor Addy.&nbsp; Mr. Addy known by friends and family as “Dit” passed away on March 18, 2024 following a long illness.&nbsp; During his teenage years, he loved hunting quail, catching fish for his Mama to fry, and tracking rabbits if mother nature provided some snow. Dwight was a graduate of Gilbert High School where he excelled in track and basketball.&nbsp; Being a man of many talents, he was an electrician, technician, and retired from the American Red Cross.&nbsp; In his later years, he became a Western aficionado and enjoyed watching the deer, turkey, possums, and other wildlife that crossed through his yard. He was an animal lover and was especially fond of “Minnie,” his retriever cat. </p><p>Surviving are his son, Douglas C.&nbsp; Addy, sister, Sandra Threatt (Ted), and brother, Henry “Petie” Addy (Patricia).&nbsp; Uncle “Dit” will be sorely missed by his nieces, nephews, and extended family.&nbsp; He was predeceased by a brother, Rev. Ellis “Cook” Addy.&nbsp; </p>
