<p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p>Doris Jean Pruitt, 92, of Checotah, OK, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday, March 18, 2024 in Tulsa, OK. She was born on Saturday, April 18, 1931 to Jesse Leonard and Lois Adeline (Holt) Mohon. Doris grew up in the Hichita, Victor, Elm Grove area and graduated from Checotah High School in 1949. She married the love of her life, Archie Pruitt on Saturday, May 28, 1949 in the parsonage at the First Baptist Church of Checotah. In 1951, they moved to Wichita, KS, where Doris and Archie worked for Boeing-Beech Aircraft Company. After their children were born, she worked as a church secretary at Midway Baptist Church and Sharon Baptist Church, where she also taught Sunday School. A few years later they moved back to the Council Hill area. Doris began working at White Stag as the Personnel Manager and retired from there in 1993. She was a member of First Baptist Church Checotah since 1963, where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. Doris enjoyed sewing, crafts, and flower gardening. She loved watching OKC Thunder basketball and OU Football. Doris liked beautiful clothes and enjoyed entertaining. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her gift from God was being an encourager. Doris was a role model and mentor to women in Sunday School. She will be missed by everyone that loved and knew her.&nbsp;Doris was preceded in death by her parents; husband Archie Pruitt; brothers, Tom, Jim and Bennie Mohon; son-in-law, Larry Jennings.&nbsp;She is lovingly survived by her two daughters, Kathy Jennings of Hartshorne, OK, Libby Kreller and her husband Tom of Georgetown, TX; eight grandchildren, Rob Park of McAlester, OK, Keli Spears and her husband Brandon of Hartshorne, OK, Ashley Alfano and her husband Gaylon of Saudi Arabia, Scott Kreller of Wisconsin, Amanda Clevlen and her husband Brent of Austin, TX, Garrett Kreller and wife Sandrine of Kosovo; twelve great-grandchildren, Braylon, Railey and Kade Spears, Alex Park, Adrian, Aaron and Archie Alfano, Jessica and Andrew Kreller, Brady, Cameron and Zella Clevlen; three sisters-in-law, Wanda Wilson of Gore, Lavada Mohon of Porter and Barbara Holtzclaw of Norman, OK. Doris is also survived by Natalie, Chris, Robert, Jackson and Grant Jerez; Wade, Westin and Wyatt Jennings; Allee and Aria Showalter; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other extended family and a lifetime of friends.</p><p><br></p><p>As you honor the life of Doris, in lieu of flowers, memorials are to be made in her memory to First Baptist Church Family Life Center Building Fund 210 SW 2nd St, Checotah, OK 74426.</p><p><br></p><p>Family and friend’s visitation will be Sunday, March 24, 2024 from 2:00pm-4:00pm at Garrett Family Funeral Home, Checotah. Services will be 1:00pm, Monday, March 25, 2024 in the First Baptist Church of Checotah with Reverend Steve Dennis ministering. Committal prayers and interment will follow in Council Hill Cemetery under the personal direction of John Garrett. Tom Kreller, Brandon Spears, Braylon Spears, Rob Park, Rick Matthews and Bobby James will serve as Casket Bearers. Doris Jean Pruitt, 92, of Checotah, OK, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday, March 18, 2024 in Tulsa, OK.
