Doris Marie Schmitz (nee Otter), 98 of Taneytown, MD., formerly of Randallstown, passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at Bridginglife-Dove House in Westminster, MD.

She was born July 31, 1925, in Baltimore, MD the daughter of the late Edwin Frank Otter and the late Evelyn Catherine Otter (nee Beck).

She was the beloved wife of the late Albert Leroy Schmitz, Jr.

Doris was a loving Mom and truly enjoyed many years in Ocean City with Dad / husband and cousin Edith and Husband and several of their friends going to festivals and out to dinner. Mom and Dad enjoyed traveling to Disney world, London, France, and Germany as well as many road trips on the East Coast.

Mom enjoyed being around her Family during all the Holidays, Birthdays and Family gatherings. Mom beamed of her Grandchildren and loved that she became a Great Grandmother.

Doris was a dedicated volunteer to Mother Seton and Little Sisters of The Poor and Liberty Road Senior Center for many years.

She prided herself on her “independence” after Dad passed away and loved going to the Westminster Towne Mall and could fill 1/2 carts at the Dollar store, afterwards meeting a friend for lunch.

She was the mother of Francis Steven Schmitz and wife Judy, and Joyce Marie Anderson; loving grandmother of Melissa, Kyle & wife Lauren, Taylor & fiancée Elle Wilson, Kristina, Samantha, and Jessica & husband Joshua; great-grandmother of Colton, Kennedy, Cayson, and Paxton.

Friends may call Thursday, March 21, 2024, from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A. 1212 West Old Liberty Road Sykesville, MD 21784 (Beside South Carroll High School); where Catholic Prayers will be held on Friday, March 22, 2024, at 10:30 AM.

Interment Lorraine Park Cemetery.
