<p>Sidney Perdue, 78 of Winifrede went home to be with the Lord on March 17, 2024 at CAMC Memorial Hospital, Charleston. </p><p><br></p><p> He was a former coal miner with U.S. Steel at Winifrede and was owner and operator of Perdue Enterprises. He was a 1963 graduate of East Bank High School and was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was a member of Old Glory Freewill Baptist Church, Winifrede where he faithfully served in many roles over many years. </p><p><br></p><p>He was preceded in death by his parents Marvin and Dora “Todie” Barker Perdue, brothers: Jack, Charles, Matthew Perdue Sr. and sisters: Myrtle Mae and Loretta Booher. </p><p><br></p><p> He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years: Frances Cottrell Perdue, daughters: Melissa Lafferty of Winifrede, Jennifer (Anthony) Tharp of Charleston, Andrea (Rob) O’Meara of Hinton, sister: Allie (James) Perdue McFadden of Winston Salem, NC, grandchildren: Joshua, Taylor, Olivia, Shelby, Gracie and Riley and great granddaughter: Alexandria. </p><p><br></p><p> Funeral will be 1 p.m. Thursday March 21, 2024 at Leonard Johnson Funeral Home, Marmet with Rev. Tim Oakes officiating. Burial will follow in Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens, Glasgow. Visitation is 2 hours prior to the service at the funeral home.</p><p><br></p><p> In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Old Glory Freewill Baptist Church 87 Old Glory Lane Winifrede, WV 25214. </p><p><br></p><p> Condolences may be sent to the family at leonardjohnsonfuneralhome.com.</p><p><br></p>
