Dennis “Mountain” Richard Montgomery, age, 68, died on March 16, 2024 at University Place Nursing and Rehab in Charlotte, just two days after his 68 birthday. Born in Gaston County on March 14, 1956 he was the son of the late Johnny Montgomery and Rita Cherry. Mountain was raised in Gastonia and lived in Bessemer City the last several years. He loved sports and was a Big Fan of the UNC Tarheels, Atlanta Braves, Minnesota Vikings and NASCAR. Mountain loved playing basketball at Lineberger Park as a youth and enjoyed playing baseball, softball, bowling and fishing.

Mountain worked at G & M Auto Parts, Auto Zone, and the City of Gastonia over the years. In addition to his parents, Mountain was preceded by his grandmother, Vernie Cherry and Aunt Ivonia Thompson.

Celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at 11:00 am in the sanctuary of Grace Baptist Church in Gastonia.
