<p>NORTH CHELMSFORD – Alice M. (Tymowicz) Surrette, age 98, formerly of Lowell, MA passed away peacefully at The Residence at Freeman Lake on Saturday, March 16, 2024. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph B. Surrette with whom she shared 64 years of marriage prior to his passing in 2015.</p><p><br></p><p>She was born in Lowell on October 12, 1925, daughter of the late Joseph M. and Mary A. (Kucharski) Tymowicz.</p><p><br></p><p>She was educated in the Lowell School system and continued her education at Holy Ghost Nurses’ Training in Cambridge, MA. She was employed as a nurse, first at the former St. Joseph’s Hospital in Labor &amp; Delivery, followed by the long-term care department of Edith Nourse Rogers VA Hospital in Bedford, MA. Both she and her late husband were honored for their many volunteer hours at the hospital in their retirement. Alice loved to crochet, bingo and enjoyed square dancing. Upon moving to Freeman Lake, it was not uncommon to see her pushing a resident in a wheelchair or giving assistance in some way. Alice’s motto was “Once a nurse, Always a nurse!”</p><p><br></p><p>Alice is survived by her son Joseph A. Surrette of Hemet, CA, and daughter Patricia A. Giles and her husband Robert of Upton, MA. She leaves her granddaughters, Jerrica G. Niles and her husband Robert of Oakdale, CT and Jillian P. Martin and her husband Robert of Sutton MA. She also leaves her great grandson William Niles and great granddaughter Elisabeth Niles of Oakdale, CT. In addition, she leaves her sisters-in-law Peggy Surrette of Wilmington, MA and Dorothy Surrette of Highland, MD. She was predeceased by her sister Stella Tymowicz, and brothers Andrew, Stanley and John Tymowicz.</p><p><br></p><p>Visiting Hours will be held on Friday, March 22nd from 9:00-10:00 AM at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT. Her Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist Church, 115 Middlesex Street, North Chelmsford. Interment in Holy Trinity Polish Cemetery, 155 Boston Road, LOWELL.</p><p><br></p><p>In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to MA Association for the Blind, 200 Ivy St., Brookline, MA 02446 (<a href="https://www.mabvi.org/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">www.mabvi.org</a>) or The American Diabetes Association, P.O. NORTH CHELMSFORD – Alice M. (Tymowicz) Surrette, age 98, formerly of Lowell, MA passed away peacefully at The Residence at Freeman Lake on Saturday, March 16, 2024. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph B. Surrette with whom she shared 64 years of marriage prior to his passing in 2015.


She was born in Lowell on October 12, 1925, daughter of the late Joseph M. and Mary A. (Kucharski) Tymowicz.
