<p>Mrs. Marilyn Jean Segraves, née McCormick, passed away in the morning hours of March 17, 2024, in her home surrounded by her loving family at the age of 93. Jean was born Dec. 7, 1930, in Goshen, Alabama, the youngest of seven to Mrs. Novella and Mr. Thomas Meridda McCormick. She married Colonel Berry Alfred Segraves in 1952 and they served their country in the Air Force until 1971 when they retired to Warner Robins. Berry and Jean were devoted members of Shirley Hills Baptist church for over 50 years.</p><p><br></p><p>Jean loved horses all her life and enjoyed riding them with her husband. She was an excellent seamstress, cook, hostess, and card player. She possessed a keen business mind and a sharp wit. She was well known for her stylish choices of clothing and impeccable taste. She was caring, generous, and hospitable to all, a true example of Christ’s love. She always had a kind word and a cup of coffee for anyone who stopped by. She loved a hot summer day and to watch her grandchildren and, later, great-grandchildren play in the pool. ​</p><p><br></p><p>Jean is preceded in death by her husband, Berry, her parents, and her siblings Edna McNeil, Gibbs, Sarah Broxton, Elizabeth (Lib) Olds, Thomas, and Joseph Benjamin. Jean is survived by her three children, Michael Alfred (Wanda) Segraves, Michele Ann Segraves, and Mona Alicia (Charles) Bridges; nine grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.</p><p><br></p><p>Jean was strong in her faith and her love for her family. She will be missed so much by so many.</p><p><br></p><p>Services celebrating her life will be held Thursday, March 21, 2024, at 11 am at Burpee Scott Memorial Chapel with interment to follow at Andersonville National Cemetery at 2 pm. Visitation for family and friends will take place one hour prior to service. Reverends Joe Haselden and Andy Cook will officiate the services.</p>
