Mark Gene Brenke Obituary

Mark Gene Brenke “Pepaw”, 76, went to be with the Lord on March 15, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was a devoted father, an adored grandfather, and an expectant great-grandfather. He was born on May 16, 1947, in San Diego, California to Georgia May and A.C. Brenke.

After moving to Arkansas as a child, he received his early education in Pine Bluff, graduating from Pine Bluff High School. He earned his master’s degree from Arkansas State University.

Mark spent his life embracing the beauty of the outdoors. Whether it was fishing at dawn, hunting, or feeding deer.

In addition to his love for the outdoors, Mark was also a passionate educator who dedicated himself to shaping young minds. Mark passionately taught science at Dollarway High School and Pine Bluff High School before retiring from SEARK College. During his career, Mr. Brenke patiently and with unwavering dedication guided countless individuals along their educational journeys, imparting not only knowledge but also invaluable life lessons. His impact extended far beyond the classroom, as former students fondly remember him as a mentor and friend. Mark’s commitment to education leaves an enduring legacy, as he instilled in others the belief that knowledge is the key to unlocking endless possibilities.

As a father and grandfather, Pepaw was a source of unwavering guidance and boundless love. He imparted the values of integrity, hard work, and respect for nature. His wisdom and compassion were ever-present, shaping the lives of those around him. Pepaw delighted in sharing his passion for the outdoors with his family. He patiently taught them the art of hunting and fishing while instilling in him a deep appreciation for nature.

He is survived by his son, Charlie (Whitney) Brenke, his grandson, Tyler (Kaitlin) Brenke and a soon to be great- grandson Krew Bennett.

Though he may have left this world, Mark will forever remain in our hearts.

A gathering in celebration of Mark’s life will be held Tuesday, March 19, 2024 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Robinson and Fuller White Hall Funeral Chapel.
