It is with great sorrow, we announce the passing of our son, brother, husband and friend Stephen. Stephen passed away on March 13, 2024, after a year battle with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia. A legacy of kindness, laughter, and love for life will continue to inspire all who knew him. As we bid farewell to this remarkable young man, let us carry forward the light he brought into our lives.


God, grant me comfort in my pain, peace, in my turmoil and strength, in my weakness. Help me navigate through this time of grief


Stephen Jr. was born on July 10, 1990, to parents Leona Massan and Stephen Rockwell Sr. in Thompson, Manitoba. He is survived by his parents; Leona and Stephen Sr. (Darlene) his siblings Joelle, Sean, Stacey (Jeremy), Larissa, Trevor, Shane and his wife Darilynn and their three children Sean, Austin, Madelyn. Along with Numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and co-workers who will miss him dearly.


Stephen was predeceased by his maternal grandparents Albert & Doreen Massan. Great Grandparents Peter and Delia Massan.


Stephen was born and raised in Thompson, he loved his community and kindness was a part of how he lived his life. He left a lasting impact on everyone he met. He was deeply involved in community service. His career started at working at the Thompson Pool then transferred to the TRCC and began working as Community Safety Officer with the City of Thompson. Stephen was a true native of Thompson, he loved and called home.


Viewing held on Tuesday, March 19th, 2024 at Boardman/Northland Funeral Home in Thompson, Manitoba from 4:00—8:00pm


Celebration of Life held on Wednesday, March 20th, 2024 at The TRCC in Thompson, Manitoba at 1:00pm. Officiated by Pastor Chris Lowe. Interment to follow at the Thompson Cemetery.


“O Lord, our hearts are heavy with the sorrow of losing Stephen. Give us the strength and the will to bear our heavy burdens, until we can again feel the warmth and love of Your divine compassion. In this time of sorrow, let Your arms of love embrace us, let us find refuge and strength in You.”
