Velma E. Holmes

<p>WASHBURN: Velma E. Holmes 95, passed away March 11, 2024 at a Presque Isle nursing facility. She was born March 19, 1928 in Ashland, the daughter of James and Lena (Cloukey) Clark. She worked at several potato processing plants. She loved spending time with her family and adored her grandchildren. Velma had a generous heart and a playful spirit. She made people smile. Her kindness and warmth will remain in our hearts and be remembered by all that knew her. Velma is survived by a son Alan Holmes of Wade, a daughter Diane Good of Presque Isle, three sisters; Eunice Tarbox of Presque Isle, Hilda Spooner of Ashland, Helen Koziol of Massachusetts, her grandchildren; Justin Good and his wife Kalle, Logan Good, James Clark, Steven Holmes, Sherri Clark and her husband Carl, her great grandchildren; Jesse, Nevaeh and Chase Clark, Everley and Atlas Good, Elena Holmes. Haley and Landon Johnston, great great grandchildren; Rylee and Jayden Clark, two daughters-in-law Gail Clark and Marie Dickinson and her children Justin Dickinson, Cassie White and her children Chandler and Bailey White. Velma was predeceased by two sons; Olaus “Duke” Clark in Jan. 2005 and Gary Holmes in Jan. 2024, both of Wade and her infant daughter Jeanie, her ex-husband Stanley “Hap” Holmes, four sisters; Louann Baker, Tina Avery, Thelma Carney, all of Ashland, Linda Beaulieu of Mapleton, three brothers; Nathan, Wayne and Larry Clark all of Ashland. There will be no calling hours or service. Spring interment will be at Washburn Riverside Extension Cemetery with a double burial for Velma and her son Gary. Arrangements have been entrusted to Bowers Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Presque Isle. Online condolences may be shared at www.bowersfuneral.com</p><p></p>
