OPELOUSAS ~ Shirley Jane Dupre, age 81, the former Shirley Jane Savoy, passed away Saturday, March 15, 2024 surrounded by her family at her residence in Plaisance.

Mrs. Shirley was a native and life-long resident of Plaisance. A devoted Catholic, she was a parishioner of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Plaisance. Mrs. Shirley took great pride in her family and adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and reading. She will be truly missed.

Survivors include her husband of sixty-four years, Lionel Dupre; her son, Mike Dupre and his wife, Brenda, of Plaisance; her daughters, Terri Courville and her companion, Tracy Duplechain, of Hayesville, NC and Kellie Rabalais and her husband, Matthew, of Opelousas; her grandchildren, Lindsey St. Cyr, Lance Dupre, Alexis Bernard, Lane Guillory, Jaze Rabalais, and Reeves Rabalais; her great grandchildren, Ily, Marly, Luca, Beckem, Bence, and Miles; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rufus Savoy and the former Marie Castille; her grandbaby, Sailor Rabalais; and her brother, Earlie Savoy.

A rosary will be prayed at 4:30 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 2:00 p.m. Sunday until 6:00 p.m. Sunday.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff and nurses of Louisiana Hospice & Palliative Care and her caretakers Betty Savoie and Sharon Bihm.
