<p>Her children arise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her: “Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.” Proverbs 31</p><p><br></p><p>Mrs. Tennie Mayhew Gabriel, 89, was born in Iredell County on June 18, 1934, to the late Joseph Nathaniel Mayhew and Lula Bell Lowe Mayhew. She departed this life on Friday, March 15, 2024 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.</p><p><br></p><p>Tennie graduated from Dunbar High School in Mooresville, N.C. and later worked in housekeeping at the Brian Center. She was married to Lynn Carter Nichols, who preceded her in death.</p><p><br></p><p>In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a two brothers, Joseph Mayhew Jr, and Johnny Marshall Mayhew; two sisters, Clara Faulkner, and Alice Mayhew Brandon; and a daughter-in-law, Margaret Nichols.</p><p><br></p><p>She leaves to cherish the memory of her life, two sons, Gary (Linda) Nichols, and Jeffery Dean Nichols, both of Statesville, N.C.; two grandchildren, Gary Nichols Jr, and Montrel Nichols; three great grandchildren, Myriah Nichols, Shiyal Nichols, and Trail Nichols; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.</p><p><br></p><p>A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at Rutledge and Bigham Mortuary, Statesville.
