GREENWICH


Beverly “Bev” (Innocent) Wood, 80, passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at the Glens Falls Hospital following a short illness.


Born September 17, 1943 in Schenectady, NY, she was the daughter of the late John and Marion (Jones) Innocent.


Bev graduated from Niskayuna High School and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in teaching from SUNY Fredonia. She was a past member of the First Baptist Church in South Glens Falls, North Argyle Community Church, Pine Knolls Alliance in South Glens Falls, and presently a member of the Whiteside Church in Cambridge.


On July 26, 1969, Bev married the love of her life, William “Bill” Wood at the First Baptist Church in South Glens Falls with Rev. Nevin Korb officiating.


Bev began her teaching career in South Glens Falls in the second grade, and after marrying Bill, she moved to Argyle where she taught third grade at the Greenwich School District for a year and a half. She took several years off to be a stay at home mom to her two daughters. Bev returned to teaching as an active substitute in Greenwich for 15 years. She became a fulltime special education aide before her retirement in 2016.


Bev enjoyed gardening, teaching Sunday School, doing Bible studies, arranging and opening church libraries, and babysitting her grandson Tristen.


In addition to her parents, Bev was predeceased by her husband William “Bill” Wood.


Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Lynnette Wood of Marion, IN, and Anita Wilkinson (Jeff), of Argyle, her grandchildren, Tristen Wilkinson of Argyle, Megan Connell (Mike) of Granville, Kimmy Jacobson (Ben) of Shushun, and Chelsea Briggs (Brian) of Greenwich, her sister Priscilla Innocent of Marion, IN, her sister-in-law Ruth Wood of Sparta, TX, as well as three cousins.


Friends may call from 10-11:30am on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at the Whiteside Church, 331 Center Cambridge Rd., Cambridge, NY 12816.


A Memorial Service will be conducted following the calling hours at the church with Pastor Andrew Strickland officiating.


Refreshments will follow the services downstairs at the church.


Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.


The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff of the Fort Hudson Rehab Unit and to the Glens Falls Hospital for their excellent care over the last four months. They also wish to thank Kimmy for her care and compassion and always keeping Bev in her thoughts.
