Stella Luella (Van Horn) Carr, 98, of Atchison, KS, passed away Friday, March 15, 2024, at Gran Villas, Atchison, KS.

Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Thursday, March 21, 2024, at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, with Rev. Joseph Hansen officiating. Burial will follow at the Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, KS. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at the funeral home. Stella was born July 20, 1925, in Atchison, KS, the daughter of Robert Luther and Clara P. (Teichman) Van Horn. She graduated from Atchison High School. Stella worked at several businesses including Saunders Manufacturing for twenty years, Medicalodge for eleven years and Carol Baptist for fourteen years as a janitor. She was a born-again Christian, a member of Carol Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School to many small children.

Stella married John L. Carr on July 7, 1946. He went to be with the Lord on January 21, 2004, after fifty-eight years of marriage. Survivors include her numerous nephews and nieces. She was also preceded by her parents, and siblings, Charles and Arthur Van Horn, Cora Thorpe, Mary Ellen Riddle, Anna Sowers, Pearl Lentz.
