Irma I. (Ita) Leighton, 83, a longtime resident of Dracut, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at D’Youville Senior Care Center, Lowell, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Richard James Leighton with whom she shared 32 years of marriage until his passing.

She was born in Monterrey, Mexico on December 9, 1940, and was the daughter of the late Aurelio Ita Relion and Petra Baez de Ita.

Irma enjoyed being outdoors tending to her plants and garden. She was devoted to her Catholic faith and was a kind caregiver with a beautiful soul. She will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.

Irma leaves her loving son, Richard J. Leighton of San Francisco, CA, her sisters, Rosara Ita Rodriguez, Luz Ma Ita Tellez, and Artemisa Ita Garza, and her brother, Leopold Ita Bae of Monterrey Mexico. In addition, she is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 22, 2024 at 11:00 am at St. Marguerite D’Youville Parish, 1340 Lakeview Ave., Dracut. Interment will be held privately.
