Beatrice "Paulie" A. Emidy Obituary

Beatrice “Paulie” Emidy (née Paul) peacefully passed away surrounded by her family on March 14, 2024. Beatrice, age 86, was born on June 23, 1937 in Providence, Rhode Island to Margaret (née Connealy) and Ernest Paul. Beatrice graduated from Burrillville High School and received her nursing diploma from St. Joseph School of Nursing in Providence, Rhode Island. She formed friendships with her fellow nursing classmates that would last throughout their lifetimes.

With her kind and gentle touch, Beatrice cared for patients in Rhode Island for over four decades, beginning her career in 1957 at St. Joseph’s Hospital and ending at Zambarano Hospital in 2000.

In 1959, Beatrice married her high school sweetheart, John “Jack” Emidy, Sr., her husband of 45 years. Together they raised seven children, whom she lovingly called her blessings, and set an example of always putting family first. Whether at her house on Sayles Avenue or at the “camp” on Wilson’s Reservoir, family gatherings were always full - with sons, daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and, of course, plenty of laughter and good food.

Beatrice was predeceased by her husband, Jack, and her parents, Margaret and Ernest Paul. Beatrice will be remembered by her seven children, Jane Mandigo and her husband Billy, Ann Cosby and her husband Pete, John “Jack” Emidy, Jr. and his partner Martha, Paul “Pete” Emidy and his wife Patty, Janice Watt and her husband Kenny, Kathleen Brissette and her husband David, and Michael Emidy and his wife Annie, as well as thirteen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and sister Janet Houle and her husband Lindy.

Beatrice was a devout Catholic and her faith brought her comfort and strength throughout her life.

Her funeral will be held Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at 9 AM from the Boucher Funeral Home, 272 Sayles Ave., Pascoag with her Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Joseph's Church, 183 Sayles Ave., Pascoag. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Pascoag Main St., Pascoag. Calling hours are Tuesday from 4 to 7 PM.  In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Covenant House, PO Box 758636, Topeka, KS 66675-9986 or Tunnels2Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10306
