HALIFAX - John W. Lower, age 96, of Halifax, PA died March 15, 2024, at home with his family at his side.

He was born on October 21, 1927 in Dalmatia, PA the son of the late Harry Lower and Mary (Lohr) Lower.

John was married to Margaret (Meier) Lower for 75 years.

He retired from Pennsy Supply after 40 years of service.

John enlisted in the U.S. Army and served from 1945 - 1948 and was stationed in Germany.

John was a member of First U.M. Church, Millersburg, a lifetime member of the American Legion, Harrisburg.

He loved woodworking, hunting, and farming.

In addition to his wife Margaret he is survived by his daughter Eva Travitz of Halifax, daughter-in-law Wanda Lower of Harrisburg, grandchildren Kimberly Sterner, Aaron Lower, and great grandchildren Brieanna, Emily, Ian, Miranda, and Danica.

He was preceded in death by a son Dale Lower, grandchildren Timothy Travitz and Tracy Ann Travitz, brothers Homer and Richard, and sisters Eva and Betty.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at Hoover-Boyer Funeral Home, Ltd. - Millersburg from 10:00 AM-11:00 AM. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM, burial with military honors to follow at County Line Cemetery.
