Obituary

Barbara Jean “Babs” Mace, 81, of Charleston, went home to be with the Lord on March 15, 2024 at SweetBriar Assisted Living, Dunbar.

Barbara was a Legal Secretary at Barth & Thompson for many years. She was a lifelong Christian and member of Eskdale Missionary Baptist Church where she served as the Secretary and Treasurer.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father Fred and Naomi Curry; her son Royce Mace; her brother Darrell Lee Curry; and her sister Shirley Ashley.

She is survived by her daughter, Jeanie (Burl) Godbey and grandchildren Daniel, Samuel and Suzanne Mace. Also left to cherish her memory are her sisters Linda Howell Carver, Stella (Darrell) Higginbotham and Carol (Mike) McCallister as well as her brother, Fred (Jeanne) Curry, Jr. Anyone who knew Barbara knew she loved her family dearly. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews who meant the world to her.

Although our hearts are shattered, we the Curry Clan have a loving bond that will never be broken. Our separation is only temporary--for one day we will again be reunited in the presence of our Lord.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at Leonard Johnson Funeral Home in Marmet with Pastor John Reed officiating. Visitation is 2 hours prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Cunningham Memorial Park in St. Albans.
