Vernie Boyd

Mrs. Vernie Boyd, age 81, of Davenport, Virginia went to be with the Lord on Thursday (March 14, 2024) at her home. Born December 11, 1942 in Buchanan County, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Lee and Lydia Charles Boyd. A lifelong resident of the area, she was a devout Christian and attended Russell Fork Church for thirty-eight years. Second to serving the Lord, she loved spending time with her close family and church family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Roy Boyd.

Survivors include her husband of sixty-two years, Quillion Boyd of the home; three sons, Avery Boyd and wife, Karen of Davenport, Gregory Boyd of Davenport, and Charles Boyd and wife, Jennifer of Grundy; two daughters, Liz Owens and husband, Benny and Vickie Stevens and husband, Tim of Pounding Mill; grandchildren, Jessica Howard, Jason Woods, Travis Boyd, Joshua Stevens, Kara Boyd, Raegan Boyd, and Jordan Wilson; great-granddaughter, Adriana Ward; great-great-grandchild, Cayson Ward; one sister, Martha Boyd; one brother, Russell Boyd; several nieces and nephews also survive.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Helping Hands Hospice and her hospice nurse, Tanji, who became part of the family from day one.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 AM Sunday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Denver Barton officiating. Interment will follow in the Family Cemetery on Foxfire Road in Davenport.

Relatives and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Honorary pallbearers will be James Barton, Jennings Boyd, Clifton Barton, Clifford Breeding and the men of Russell Fork Church.

The family will receive friends after 6 PM Saturday at Honaker Funeral Home, where an evening service will be conducted at 7 PM with Rev. Clarence Yates officiating.
