Sr. Mary Poole

Sister Mary Poole was called home to God on March 14, 2024. A native of Auburn, New York, she entered the Sisters of Mercy on September 8, 1958.

Sister Mary graduated from Holy Family High School and earned a Bachelor’s in Music from Marywoood College. Later she earned a Masters of Music from the Catholic University of America. She served as a music educator in many schools including: Holy Cross, St. Charles Borromeo, St. Andrew’s and St. Cecelia’s. Sister Mary also ministered as a parish musician or music director at Holy Ghost, St. Theodore’s, St. Salome’s, Our Lady of Lourdes Rochester and in other diocesan settings.

Her Funeral Liturgy we will be celebrated on Monday March 18th at 10:00 a.m. at the Mercy Center Chapel, 1437 Blossom Road, Rochester. Prior to Mass, the casket will be open in Chapel for 45 minutes. 

Sister Mary is survived by her sister, Sister Loretta Poole SSJ and the Sisters of Mercy. Donations in her memory may be made to the Sisters of Mercy, 1437 Blossom Road, Rochester 14610.
