Arthur Raymond Menut

<p>Arthur R. Menut II, born on 10/24/1941 and known to family and friends as Art, died peacefully at the McClure Miller Respite House on March 13, 2024.</p><p><br></p><p>Art was raised in St. Johnsbury graduating from St. Johnsbury Academy in 1959. Soon after he joined the United States Marine Corp and proudly served in Cuba during the Cuban missile crisis. Following his honorable discharge he attended the University of Vermont, graduating in Ag Economics. He worked in Boston in milk marketing and then, once he returned to Vermont, was one of the original Act 250 Coordinators. He then worked for Forest and Parks before resurrecting his in-laws dairy farm in Westford, raising Jersey calves and ultimately milking his dairy herd. Once no longer farming he was hired as the lobbyist for Vermont Farm Bureau, a position he held for 10 years before retiring. He served as Selectman in both Wheelock, VT and then in Westford at various times.</p><p><br></p><p>He leaves his wife of 55 years, Beth (Irish); two daughters, Erin Menut and Amelia Duffy and four grandchildren, Ciara and Rollin Duffy and Ava/Milo and Aiden Menut. His cousins were always near and dear to his heart and remained close throughout his life. </p><p><br></p><p>Art was a lover of family, dogs, books, guns and hunting as well as a lover of the land. He was a tireless worker who loved to talk politics with his mother-in-law, Pauline. He was loved by all—especially his extended family.</p><p><br></p><p>Anyone wishing to make contributions in his memory can do so to the McClure Miller Respite House on at uvmhomehealth.org at or to the Chittenden County Humane Society, 142 Kindness Court, South Burlington, VT 05403, in honor of his beloved dog, Sebastian. </p><p><br></p><p>Calling hours will be at the A.W.
