A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 18, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point for Joey Sonnier, 69, who passed away at his home in Branch on March 12, 2024 at 9:01 P.M.

Fr. Brian Harrington, Pastor of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Point will be officiating for the services. Burial will be held in Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church New Cemetery in Church Point.

The family has requested the visitation to be held on Sunday, March 17, 2024 at 10:00 A.M. until 10:00 P.M. in the Duhon Funeral Home of Church Point. A Rosary will be recited on Sunday at 6 o’clock in the evening in the Funeral Home Chapel in Church Point. Visitation will resume on Monday at 8:00 A.M. until time of services.

Survivors include his wife of forty-nine years, Janet M. Sonnier of Branch; one son, Jacob and wife, Candace Sonnier of Lafayette; two daughters, Jessica and husband, Craig Houston of Rayne, and Jen and husband, Edward Moronta of Lafayette; one brother, Charles Otis Sonnier, Jr. and wife, Rebecca of Church Point; two sisters, Norma and husband, Lawrence Olivier of Carencro, and Linda McBride of Church Point; his father-in-law, George Matte of Branch; eight grandchildren, Emmalina, Carson, Leighanna, Niesi, Edwarnis, Eduardo “E.J.”, Wyatt, and Olive.

Mr. Sonnier was preceded in death by his grandson, Thomas Jacques Tucker Houston; his parents, Charles Otis Sonnier, Sr. and Agnes V. Sonnier; two brothers, Loray, and Darrell Sonnier; three sisters, Jennie Matte, Delsy Jagneaux, and Bonnie Olivier.
