Frances "Frankie" D. McMillan Obituary

Frances "Frankie" D. McMillan, 92, of Marion, and formerly of Fairmount, died, Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at Marion Health.


Frances was born in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania on July 19, 1931, daughter of the late, Clarence William Ross and Sarah Elizabeth (Harris) Speicher. Frankie was and excellent cook and bartender. She was the owner of the Town Tavern in Summitville and part owner of Chuck's Tavern in Marion. She had also worked at the Palace Bar, the Giant and the American Legion Post 313, where she has been a member of the Auxiliary for nearly 50 years. She loved gardening and canning the produce it supplied especially the green beans and tomatoes. Frankie also enjoyed puzzles, watching Westerns on TV and the k-9 companions she had through the years.


Frances is survived by her three children, Vickie Ahrens, Marion, Linda (Roger) Blackburn, Marion, and Larry (Darlene Dyer) Bridges, Marion; seven grandchildren, Josh (Rocio) Blackburn, Jeremy Blackburn, Charity (Tim Lees) Blackburn, Cindy (Brad James) Blackburn, Tiffany (Randy) Kidwell, Timothy Ahrens, and Michael Thompson; seven-great-grandchildren, Nathan Blackburn, Reid Johnson, Bob James, Chloe Kidwell, Andrew Ahrens, Dylan Ahrens, and Niko Hinderer.


Frances was preceded in death by her parents, son, Michael (Jackie) Thompson, and grandsons, Thomas Wayne Ahrens, and Jason Thompson, and Ethan Aguilar Blackburn; brother William Ross.


Arrangements have been entrusted to the Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Life Celebration Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 415 South Main Street, Fairmount, Indiana where services will be held on Tuesday, March 19, 2023. Visitation is from 1-3 PM. A Legion Walk will take place at 3 PM with the funeral service immediately following with Pastor Ted Payne officiating. Burial will be at Park Cemetery, Fairmount.


Memorial contributions may be made to the Veterans Memorial at Park Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
