Marjorie Ann Girardini Obituary

Marjorie (Marge) A. Girardini, beloved wife of Joseph Girardini for 55 years, passed away at home with her loving family on March 13, 2024 after a 3+ year battle with cancer. She was born in Boston, MA on November 22, 1947, the daughter of George Augliera and Lydia (Alonzo) Augliera.


Marge was a graduate of Rockville High School and employed at Rockville General Hospital (RGH) and ECHN for over 25 years until her retirement. She was a past president of the RGH Auxiliary and a devoted supporter/participant of the “RGH Follies” for many years.


She is survived by husband, children and grandchildren: Alyssa Girardini; Jennifer (Donald) Cunningham & Damian, Braeden; David (Gina) Girardini & Ryan, Kaitlin, Alyssa Oddo, Angela (James) Wilkins & Grayson, Easton. She will be greatly missed by her dear sister-in-law, Ann Cohun and many nieces and nephews: Michelle (John) Mullen & Victoria, Vanessa, Marissa Brown & Anthony McKenney, Tammy Cohun & Brett Powell. She also leaves a special cousin: Joesph Tedesco and siblings: George Augliera Jr., Karen (Kenneth) Tarbell.


Marge loved the ocean and vacations with family & friends at Cape Cod and Ogunquit, ME. She enjoyed cooking, reading, making tied blankets, feeding “her” hummingbirds and was an avid fan of the UCONN Women’s basketball team.


The family thanks the Regional Cancer Center doctors, nurses and staff; the Visiting Nurse & Health Services nurses, therapists & aides; the Ellington Volunteer Ambulance staff for their skilled, compassionate care throughout her illness.


Calling hours will be held at Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect St., Rockville-Vernon on Sunday March 17, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. - 5 00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday March 18, 2024 at 10:30 am at St. Luke Church, 141 Maple St., Ellington. Burial will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery, Rockville-Vernon.


In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or a charity of the donor’s choice.
