Eula Jones was born on December 21, 1940, to the late Thomas Thorton and Estelle Jones in Harlem, New York. She is a native New Yorker. The middle child of three sisters: older sister Louise and younger sister Serhena, who preceded her in death.

Eula was raised in a very religious home. At the tender age of 13, she was baptized by the late great Bishop Robert C. Lawson of the Greater Refuge Temple Church in Harlem, New York. Eula loved three things: her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, her children Heléne, Melvin (deceased), Shelton and music.

Eula was educated in the New York City Public School System. She graduated from George Washington High School in Washington Heights and attended Bronx Community College and Hunter Teachers College. She worked for the public school system for over 40 years as an Educator.

Eula became a member of the International Eastern Stars on June 13, 1988. Sister Eula Jones served as Worthy Matron, Associate Matron and District Grand Secretary for the Mother Electa District Grand Chapter where she received an award for her dedicated and outstanding service. Teaching fulfilled a personal passion for her. She retired in 2011 and still worked tirelessly with the UFT as a retiree.

Eula is survived by her oldest and only daughter, Heléne Jones of the Bronx, NY; son, Shelton Jones of Brooklyn, NY; daughter-in-law, Jameliah Jones of Brooklyn, NY; grandchildren Serika, Bianca and twins Ashley and Anthony all of Syracuse, NY; JaShel and Dharon Jones of Brooklyn, NY; two great grandchildren, Sayri and Taren; five nephews: Albert, Kenneth, Calvin, Vincent and Steven; two nieces Valerie and Tracey; a host of great nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
