Services for Karl Houston, 63, of Athens, Texas, are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 18, 2024, at the Faith Fellowship Church of Athens with Dr. Tony Romans officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Hannigan Smith Funeral Home.

KJay passed on March 12, 2024, in Tyler.

Karl Jay Houston was born October 12, 1960, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania the son of Sam Waymon Houston and Rose Marie (Phillips) Houston. After graduation he began his career in the HVAC industry and later started Air Services where he served the area for over 41 years. Karl was a hard-working man who took pride in his trade. He loved spending time outdoors fishing and hunting, was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed watching football and baseball.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his son Jody Buford and wife Tommi of Larue; siblings Michael Houston and wife Brenda of Richland Chambers, Debbie Jumper and husband Tony of Richland Chambers, LaDale Houston of Byrant, AR; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A visitation will be held 3-5:00 p.m., Sunday, March 17, 2024, at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home of Athens.

Seth Douglas, Scott McCurly, Dewayne Phillips, Brad Godwin, Mason Gulick, Jimmy Hawkins serving as pallbearers.

Wade Fields will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

In lieu of flowers the family would like donations made in his memory to the charity of your choice.
