Precious Tiny Greenlee Hill

<p>Precious Greenlee Hill, 88, of Black Mountain, NC, entered eternal rest on March 7, 2024.</p><p><br></p><p>Precious Tiny Greenlee was born on March 16, 1935, with her twin sister Pansye Little, in Ridgecrest, NC, where she grew up. Precious went on to graduate from Stephens Lee High School in Asheville, NC, class of 1955. She often recalled her time at Stephens Lee as some of the best years of her life. Precious moved to Winston-Salem, NC, shortly after high school to attend Kate Bitting School of Nursing, where she completed her studies to become a registered nurse. She loved being a nurse and helping others.</p><p><br></p><p>Precious met and married her husband of 36 years, Doulton Hill, Sr., in Winston-Salem and started a family. Their first born, Vickie, and second born Doulton, Jr., were raised by Precious and Doulton, Sr. with love and great concern for their well-being and education.</p><p><br></p><p>During her nursing career in Winston-Salem, Precious worked in the pediatrics unit at Kate Bitting Memorial Hospital and on the post-surgery unit of Forsyth Medical Center. She also worked at Reynolds Health Center where she was the charge nurse on the pediatrics and psychiatric units. She was subsequently promoted to Assistant Director of Nursing. Her responsibilities included the direct supervision of the facility’s outpatient diabetic clinic. Precious remained at Reynolds Health Center until her retirement in 1997. </p><p><br></p><p>Following her husband’s death, Precious moved to Black Mountain, NC in 2004 to be closer to her siblings, nieces, and nephews. She joined Mills Chapel Baptist Church after settling into her new home. Precious loved the messages from Pastor Bobby Hill, singing in the choir, and fellowship with family and friends. </p><p><br></p><p>Throughout her life, Precious also enjoyed many hobbies and pastimes, including making ceramics, doll collecting, gardening, shopping, doing word puzzles, drinking Starbucks iced coffee over breakfast, watching judge shows, and spending time with family and friends.</p><p><br></p><p>Precious is survived by her daughter, Vickie Hill, and her son, Doulton Hill, Jr., both of Black Mountain. She loved them with all her heart. Whenever they would say, “I love you, Mom,” she would say, “I love you, too. More than you know.”</p><p><br></p><p>Precious is preceded in death by her parents, James Hezekiah Greenlee and Florence Stepp Greenlee; her husband Doulton Hill, Sr.; her siblings, James Greenlee, Johanna Durham, Elizabeth Harper, Erlene Hamilton, Margaret Clinkscales, Fannie Carney, Dorothy Jones, Pansye Hooper, and Ralph Greenlee (Betty).</p><p><br></p><p>Betty Greenlee was a devoted sister-in-law whom Precious treasured as a sister and dear friend, and whose calls and visits she always looked forward to.</p><p><br></p><p>Precious is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Among the nieces and nephews are Cheryl Harper of Black Mountain, NC, William Hamilton (Jennifer) of Indio, CA, Patricia Jones of Atlanta, GA, Karen Carney-Filmore (Vaughn) of Oakland, CA, Michael Carney of Elk Grove, CA, James Greenlee (Susan) of Cincinnati, OH, Tony Hooper (Julie) of Swannanoa, NC, William Whiteside (Janice) of Swannanoa, NC, Terri Hooper of Western North Carolina, Dionne Greenlee-Jones of Black Mountain, NC, Elizabeth Greenlee of Greensboro, NC, Cynthia Greenlee of Durham, NC and Loretta Young of Buffalo, NY. Tanee Goodall (Eddie), Angela Burris, Bethany Baldwin (Kenneth), Aaron Hamilton, Lauren Hamilton, Channing Carney-Filmore, Hezekiah Hooper, Devon Hooper, Cyrus Hooper, Chaz Hooper, Leonna Beasley, Kevin Baldwin, Kobe Baldwin, Karmen Baldwin, Khloe Baldwin, Mariah Carney, Immanuel Carney, Matthias Carney, and Christopher O’Connell are among her great-nieces, great-great nieces, great-nephews, and great-great nephews. Precious is preceded in death by her beloved niece, Alma “Jean” Burris (Michael), and beloved great nephews, Michael Patrick Burris and Rashaan Hamilton.</p><p><br></p><p>The life of Precious Hill is something to celebrate because of who GOD is! He blessed her with a tender heart, and a great capacity to love and serve others. Precious was a devoted and amazing wife and IS an exceptionally loving Mother who will NEVER be forgotten.</p><p><br></p><p>Services will be held at Mills Chapel Baptist Church on March 23, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m.</p>
