March 7, 1947 - March 12, 2024

Sandra Lee Keesee, of Louisville, KY, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 12th, 2024, at the age of 77.

She was born in Bethesda, Maryland to the late Witt and Rhoda Ross during her father's service in the U.S. Navy. Sandy lived a vibrant life across various states, including Hawaii, Oregon, and California, until her family settled in Tompkinsville, KY, in 1960, when Sandy was in the 7th grade.

After graduating as valedictorian from Tompkinsville High School in 1965, Sandy began her journey at the University of Kentucky. In 1969, she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Education. Sandy's passion for education led her to become a dedicated teacher and librarian for Jefferson County Public Schools in Louisville. She later earned her Master's degree in Library Science from Spalding University.

Sandy embraced life with a deep love for her family, friends, and animals. She found immense joy in caring for her horses, dogs, and cats, showcasing her unwavering compassion for all creatures.

She was preceded in death by her youngest son Jared Ross Keesee. She is survived by her devoted husband, Herbert Lee Keesee; her loving children, Patrick Lee Keesee (Rhonda) and Jason Scott Keesee (Christine); her dear brothers, Robert and Daniel Ross; her cherished sister, Teresa Donelson; her adored grandchildren, Piper and Skylar Keesee; and many affectionate nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 22, 2024, from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm, and Saturday, March 23, 2024, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Highland Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd. Louisville, KY. A short service will commence at 12:00 pm, followed by burial at Cave Hill Cemetery.

Sandy's departure leaves a profound void, deeply felt by her entire family and the countless individuals who cherished her. In honor of her life and her love for animals, the family kindly requests, in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Kentucky Humane Society, an organization dear to Sandy's heart, where she lovingly adopted many of her beloved companions.

Sandy will forever remain in our hearts, remembered for her warmth, kindness, and the enduring love she shared with all who knew her.
